May Madness: End of an Era, New Beginnings

This week's Obvious Fashion Tip is to wear a scarf while topless!

A couple weeks ago I was winding down the month of May drinking a special sangria from Spain my brother received from a flight attendant while watching, "Dirty, Sexy, Money," on Netflix. He is loving it. I'm still hating that it was canceled and came to an abrupt end. Vacation almost over and the thought of having to purchase a car the next day was weighing heavy on me. Maybe new. Maybe old. Depends. Another end.

Began May madness in Memphis documenting rain boots and placing my life on pause for just a weekend to recharge the batteries. I may even revived this ole soul. Four traveling companions embarked on a great music adventure and before the car left the local Starbucks with lattes, caramel frappachinos in hand and the hint of envy lingering in the air by the barrista, I realized at that moment my life was going to change. I owe that weekend to the strong women for saving me from a rut. Thanks gals. We are homeys for life.

Enjoyed some great music at the Beale Street Music Festival and enjoyed two consecutive evenings soaking up the birthday greetings. We swayed to Mumford & Sons, jammed out to Stone Temple Pilots, and we ALL lost each other during LUDAcris. However, my birthday night was one upped by Obama by hearing the shocking news while listening to Sublime. Yeah, couldn't make it louder than that.

The first night I was taking pics with my new camera that I bought for myself for my birthday. Yeah me. My last camera purchase was October 2003. Yeah. Time to update. So I've become a shy shutterbug. After the first night in Memphis I text a friend to tell her I could spend all day taking pics of rain boots. So the next day I did! It gave me an excuse to sometimes go up to perfect strangers and to test drive the ole camera. Good practice. Fun times!

After coming back from Memphis I finished my first year in a doctoral program at a research one university. Finished up teaching my first semester of my first face-to-face, um. . . campus. . .no . . . non-online class. Huzzah!

Then without trying to get too emotional. My daughter after my own heart graduated with an English degree and got married within a span of two weeks. My heart broke a little, but I survived. Glad she is still going to grad school near by. Soon, and I believe sooner than I think, she will fly away.

Then the Joplin tornado hit. We should have known better. My cat was hunkered down in a weird position in the house and I have never seen her act like that since the derecho that hit Pittsburg. We were discussing everything about Joplin will be referenced as before/after that day.

Went back recently. Still chilling. Please donate to the schools!

Then I went to Colorado to visit my brother and see his family's new life.

Visited Celestial Seasonings. Um insert your favorite tea . . . joke.

Tea dress.

Short break to Estes Park!

Then my Smuggy Kuchen was on the verge of perishing. Another ending. :( So I went out big and went topless.

And at 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, I make Mr. Bainbridge shudder. Yet, somehow, I always make good time. A new beginning. . .
